Welcome Old Walhamptonians!

OW's Sailing Day Reunion - Sunday 10th June 2012. Messing about on the water on the Solent and BBQ lunch at Buckler's Hard. Please contact me if you are an OW from late 1960's to late 1970's and are interesting in joining us for a trip back in time. Families welcome.
OW Story: David Dibben - currently fundraising for The Prostate Cancer Charity. Many of you will remember David from Walhampton (1970-1974) and/or know him from the OW reunions in both London and back at the school. He will be bringing his yacht along to the next reunion at Buckler's Hard in June. David was diagnosed with prostate cancer in summer 2011. Although he had a number of symptoms, he needed to positively encourage the doctors to make the initial relevant test, as they thought him too young to have this cancer. Since the diagnosis David has gone through a range of treatment and continues to have further treatment this year. He is hoping to return to work full time and get the all clear by Christmas. To help raise awareness of the disease and to raise funds for the charity, he is walking various cross country circuits in Hampshire and travelling the length of the Kennet & Avon Canal from Reading to Bristol in incremental stages, and would be delighted if any other OW's would like to join him for any of the stages of the walks or meet up at any of his scheduled stops. This may not be possible for many of you, but please take a few minutes to read David's blog and consider supporting his commendable fundraising efforts for the Prostate Cancer Charity, in seeking to raise awareness among men of a certain age to the risk of an undetected illness. Thank you. Laura. David's blog justgiving.com/David-Dibben
This site has been compiled by Old Walhamptonians for other Old Walhamptonians who, like us, have very fond memories of our time there. More information about the background to this site can be found under the 'About' section.
During the 1970's, the decade of strikes, flares and punk music, we found ourselves in a world of adventures that was Walhampton. Looking back, we owe a big debt of gratitude to JB for the amazing school that he created for us. Not forgetting all the other people who helped to make it what is was, including Jackie Bradfield, Peter Lawford, Carol Lawford, Gerald Carey, Chris Knox, Patrick Kealy, Chris Parker, Robin Murray-Walker, John Elphinstone, Margot Brown and many more.
If you would like to be included in the where are they now, please download the blank questionnaire form and return it to me on email. I can then add you to the site. My email address can be found at the base of all pages under Contact Me. Where are they now Questions.doc
Whilst this site has been mainly created for OWs in the 1970s, we welcome contributions and contact from pupils who attended the school in the 50s, 60s and early 80s as well and will be pleased to add their 'where are they now' information. There is a newly created page for pupils of the 1980s which we hope will grow over time.
We continue to look for 70s OWs who have so far eluded us, so if you are in touch with anyone on the list on the Looking For page, or had a sibling in that era, please ask them to get in touch. Contact Me
Thank you to all the teachers, matrons and helpers who looked after us so well and made our time at Walhampton very special.
We hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane when perusing this site.
